PURPOSE:To obtain titled alloy parts having a reversible shape memory effect suitable for a joint, etc. by heating a pipe of an Ni-Ti (Ni rich) alloy, and subjecting said pipe to a treatment for forming a single phase of TiNi then to an aging treatment under mechanical restraint. CONSTITUTION:A pipe 10 or ring manufactured by working an alloy consisting of 50.3-53.0atom% Ni and the balance substantially Ti is heat-treated at >=600 deg.C so that the pipe or ring is subjected to a treatment for relieving strain and for memorizing by forming a single phase of TiNi. The pipe 10 is then expanded in liquid nitrogen, etc. by using an expanding material 12, etc. or is compressed by other mechanical method to a pipe 10'. The pipe is subjected to an aging treatment at a temp. of <=600 deg.C in the mechanically restrained state. Then the pipe 10' repeates reversibly expansion and contraction at a temp. cycle of heating and cooling. Easy joining, attaching and detaching are accomplished if such Ti-Ni alloy is adapted to a joint, etc. |
