Watertight protective equipment for underground storage containers

To protect underground storage containers whose filling and inspection devices are accommodated in a sealable dome-type shaft use is made of a two-piece lid covered with burls on its surface. Outer and inner lid are fitted into one another in a torsion-proof manner, and they seal the dome-type shaft in a watertight manner with the contact surfaces of their bearing flanges engaging in a tongue and groove manner. Consequently, despite the gaps which are necessarily left between the individual parts, moisture can not penetrate into the interior of the dome-type shaft, especially as tongue and groove are of continuous circumferential construction. The handling of such equipment is improved by the edge faces which extend in an inclined manner and the special construction of the sliding runners on the bottom. The walking safety is optimum since the burls on the surface are formed so as to produce additional bearing supports for the foot. <IMAGE>
