In order, in a dosing installation for drinking devices in cattle stalls, for admixing active ingredients to the drinking water in a water supply pipe leading to at least one drinking trough, with a dosing pump which draws a liquid additive containing at least one active ingredient in a given concentration out of an ingredient container and delivers it to the drinking water, to eliminiate the risk of water mixed with additive being sucked back into the water pipe network in particular in the event of the failure of a nonreturn valve connected upstream of the dosing pump, it is proposed to interrupt the water supply pipe by a mixing container which is provided with two shut-off valves before its pipe inlet and after its pipe outlet respectively and with two sensors for respectively a maximum and minimum liquid level in the container, and to connect the dosing pump to the mixing container via a central supply pipe with a 3/2-way valve, on which a measuring tap pipe branches off from the central supply pipe. <IMAGE>
