PURPOSE:An antiseptic and antifungal agent, containing 2-(4-thiazolyl)-1H-benzimidazole and N<alpha>-long chain acyl basic amino acid derivative as active constituents, having low toxicity, and capable of exhibiting improved effect on various molds growing in household environment. CONSTITUTION:An antispetic and antifungal agent containing (A) 2-(4-thiazolyl)- 1H-benzimidazole and (B) one or more of an N<alpha>-long chain acyl basic amino acid derivative of formula I (R is 5-19C alkyl or alkenyl; X is NH2, OCH3, OC2H5, OC3H7, OC4H9 or OCH2C6H5) or formula II (n is 3 or 4) or an acid addition salt thereof as active constituents. The mixture molar ratio of the above-mentioned components is not particularly limited but is 1:1, and the molar ratio (A/B) is preferably within (150/1)-(1/50) range. In use, the components are dissolved in a suitable solvent, and used by coating, spraying or dipping method, etc. The total amount of both components (A) and (B) to be incorporated is preferably 0.1wt% or more.
