In an air cooling apparatus for the cooling of agricultural bulk goods, especially of cereals in silos and the like, two fans (1,2) which draw air in from the surroundings are connected in parallel for the cooling of the bulk material, and can be operated alternately or together according to the operating conditions. The bulk material stored in a silo or the like after or during the harvest is here cooled exclusively by means of an air stream drawn in by the cold air fan (1), cooled to the required storage temperature in a cooler (3), which is simultaneously the evaporator of a refrigerator, and conveyed through a duct (5) into the silo.
<??>As soon as the external temperature falls so far that the power of the refrigerator permits a considerably greater quantity of air than the quantity of air delivered by the cold air fan (1), the second fan (2) is switched on.
<??>An air cooling device constructed in this manner makes possible economical operation during the whole cooling time of the stored material.
