A target box is equipped with a collecting trough (6) for bullets, with a frontal orifice (7) with a lower and an upper baffle plate (2, 3) and with side walls (1). The holding device for a shooting target (13) is formed by at least two bars (10, 11) lying in parallel one behind the other and receiving the shooting target between them with a clamping effect. These are connected to one another at their ends (10a, 11a). For the exchangeable reception of the bars (10a, 11a), a plurality of recesses (9) is arranged in the mutually opposite side walls (1) at different heights in the region of the orifice (7) of the target box. <IMAGE>
