发明名称 METHOD OF MIRROR-SURFACE FINISHING OF CYLINDRICAL WORK
摘要 PURPOSE:To super-finish the outer surface of a cylindrical work to obtain a mirror surface in a method of mirror-surface finishing of the outer surface of a cylindrical work, by giving a specific condition to the relation among the diameter and rotational speed of a tool, and the axial feed speed of both tool and cylindrical work. CONSTITUTION:A polishing material 4 which is made by binding abrasive grain of #800-#3,000 to a flexible material, is disposed between a cylindrical work 2 and a concave surface 3 which is the tool surface of a working tool 1 having a diameter eaqual to or slightly larger than that of the cylindrical work 2. Then, the cylindrical work 2 is rotated in the direction A while the tool 1 is pressed against the cylindrical tool 2, and treating liquid 6 is fed through a pipe 5 to prevent the temperature rise of the work and as well the burning damage thereof due to overheat by rubbing. Thus, by selecting the peripheral dimension L of the concave surface to 0.7D, where D is the diameter of the cylindrical work 2, and giving the condition of V/(DN)<0.004 to a relation between the rotational speed N of the cylindrical work 2 and the axial feed speed V of both tool and work 2, the super-finished mirror surface having a surface roughness of less than 0.1mumRmax may be obtained.
