In a process system for continuously measuring the oil content of water, in which the oil is extracted from a sample water flow with an organic solvent, the water is removed in a filter, in particular a hydrophobic filter, the oil-laden solvent is analysed in an analyser, in particular an analyser functioning as a twin-beam infrared measuring instrument, the solvent is subsequently separated from the oil and circulated for reuse, and the water removed is drained via a purification stage, a precise measurement is made possible, even after prolonged maintenance-free intervals, by feeding the solvent and the sample water jointly to a metering pump and from there directly to the filter.
