PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of capturing paint mist having weak adhesiveness, by spraying a liquid toward a filter which is circulated in conjunction with a wire-mesh belt inside and outside an exhaust duct to let said filter have adhesiveness. CONSTITUTION:An air supply fan 8, an air conditioner 9 and an exhaust fan 18 are respectively driven at the same time when the operation of a coating booth 1 is started. At the same time, a driving mechanism is operated to circulate a wire-mesh belt 19 and a filter 22 inside and outside an exhaust duct 17, and an atomizer 23 is operated to spray a liquid to the filter 22. Under this condition, paint is applied from coaters 14, 14a onto a car body W on a truck 11 carried in the coating booth 1. At this time, an exhausting mechanism 16 is operated to suck paint, which has not been applied onto the car body W, as mist together with conditioning air through a drainboard 6 into an exhaust chamber 4, and the paint mist is efficiently captured by the dampened filter 22.
