PURPOSE:To perform direction quantization through simple circuit constitution by finding relative position coordinates of each picture element from track starting coordinates and finding differences of coordinates of N different picture elements. CONSTITUTION:Picture elements are quantized, one by one, in eight directions from an end point of a pattern and inputted to an input terminal 1. They are converted into X-directional and Y-directional data by a direction converting circuit 3 and X-directional and Y-directional + or -1 addition and subtraction signals are sent to an X-coordinate counter 4 and an Y-coordinate counter 5 according to data quantized in the eight directions to find relative position coordinates from the trace starting coordinates. An X-coordinate delay circuit 6 and an Y- coordinate delay circuit 7 delays the data by N picture elements under the control of a timing controller 11 and a table memory 10 is accessed on the basis of the outputs of an X subtracter 8 and an Y subtracter 9. A quantization output result is obtained by a direction detecting circuit 13 and a length detecting circuit 12 to detect the concatenation of picture elements. |
