<p>The contact assembly is intended for fitting integrated circuits (17;18) on a PCB (16). It comprises a housing of insulating material (e.g. plastic) with at least one row of openings to receive projecting (12) contact elements (10,12,11,15,20), the i.c. terminals (19) being inserted into the openings with clearance (shown) and then pressed into contact (19,20) with the elements. Each element is formed by a bent leaf spring with a vertical portion (10) having a downward projection (12) and engaging one side of the opening, an upwardly inclined portion with vertical extension (15) engaging the other side, and a down (11) and up (12) S-bend with extension to engage the underside of the circuit. The opposite side has an inward projection (7) arranged such that, on depressing the housing, the spring is compressed to clamp the terminal (19) between its portions (10 and 20). The spring is pref. in phosphor bronze with tin or lead-tin coating.</p> |
