PURPOSE:To enable assembly of engines with the value of the projection in the cylinder being as close to the optimum value as possible, by selecting the most suitable dimensions of piston and connecting rod in the selection process based on the data of the depth of the crankpin obtained in the measurement process of the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The piston classification process A, the connecting rod classification process B, and the cylinder measuring process C are carried out in parallel to each other. In the piston classification process A, the pistons are classified into a plurality of ranks a1...an in the order of the measured heights of the same. In the connecting rod classification process B, the connecting rods are classified into a plurality of ranks b1...bn in the order of the measured lengths of the same. In the process C, the depths of the crankpins are measured and the data are stored. In the selecting process E following the above three processes, calculation is made to select the most suitable piston and connecting rod so that the value of the projection with these for each cylinder becomes as close to the desired optimum value as possible, and the thus selected piston and connecting rod in the process E are transferred to the assembly process F. |
