PURPOSE:To suppress permeation and diffusion of an active material in an electrolyte by kneading carbon black surface-treated with an organic silane compound or organic titanate or both of them as a conductive material with a plastic raw material. CONSTITUTION:At least one of carbon black and graphite surface-treated with an organic silane compound or organic titanate is used as a plastic electrode made by kneading and molding a mixture containing plastic raw material, carbon black, and graphite. Graphite is made in a size passable through a sieve with about 10 meshes at the largest, preferrably within a range of 10-325 meshes. This plastic electrode has extremely small halogen permeability and the corrosion progress of the electrode is very slow, thereby it can be continuously used for a long time as an electrode performing other electrochemical reaction as well as an electrode for various primary and secondary cells. |
