The invention relates to a drive system, especially for a vehicle, with a pump driven by an internal combustion engine and a hydrostatic machine, functioning in the engine and pump operation, and with an accumulator. The capacity and displacement of both machines is variable. The adjustment of the speed of movement of the load and/or of the speed of travel is performed on the secondary unit, the speed of rotation of which is adjusted accordingly, whilst the fuel supply to the internal combustion engine and the displacement of the primary unit are varied as a function of the working pressure. The accumulator is drained in the event of acceleration and charged in the event of deceleration. A considerable fuel saving is also achieved. <IMAGE> |
