PURPOSE:To make a car washing installation inexpensive as well as to put its operation into practice with certainty, by installing a reflecting type ultrasonic wave detector, which detects both of the car level and body position of a vehicle in a way of having ultrasonic waves reflected on top of the body, in a portal traveling frame. CONSTITUTION:A reflecting type ultrasonic wave detector 50, capable of detecting the body position and car level of a vehicle V, is installed in the front upper part of a portal traveling frame 1. This detector 50 is constituted of a generator part 52 emitting pulse-like ultrasonic waves at the top of a car body and a receiving part 53 which receives the reflected waves from a body surface. And, in order to prevent any misoperation by receiving the reflected waves out of a substance existing in a horizontal direction of the vehicle V, each of slender plastic intercepting cylinders 52a and 53a opening the lower end each is hangingly installed in the tip end of both the generator part 52 and the receiving part 53. With a detection signal out of the ultrasonic wave detector 50, all driving parts of the car washing installation are controlled. |
