PURPOSE:To prevent print quality from degradation due to the sag of a print blank without any addition of special devices by reversely feeding the blank ready for printing by a predetermined amount to sag it and idly feeding it by the reversely fed amount right before printing is started to tension it. CONSTITUTION:When printing is judged to be ready, a stepping motor 15 for feeding paper is reversely rotated to send back a printing blank 3 by a predetermined amount in the reverse direction A, and right before the printing is started, the printing blank 3 is idly fed by the predetermined amount in the normal direction B. Thereafter, a first dot row is printed and then the normal paper feed is carried out by one pitch. Here, the printing blank returning amount is selected so as to provide beforehand the largest sag of the printing blank produced when a printing head is kept swinging without feeding the printing blank, and adapted to be adjusted by about 1-12 pitches. Thus, since the printing can be started always under the tensioned condition of the printing blank, uniform print quality is provided without smashing the upper portion of letters in the first row. |
