PURPOSE:To obtain a solid-state image pickup element which outputs a clear image signal by inhibiting a flare phenomenon by providing an Si film on a metallic layer for light shielding. CONSTITUTION:The Si film 20 is provided on the metallic layer 17 formed of aluminum, etc. This Si film weakens the reflection of a light incident to the part other than the photoelectric conversion region of the solid-state image pickup element, and at the same time functions to attenuate a light reflected on the surface of the metallic layer 17 after passage through the Si film 20. Therefore, the flare phenomenon that the reflected light at the part other than the photoelectric conversion region is reflected again on a face plate arranged on a package or on the rear ball of an image pickup lens and comes into the photoelectric conversion region that has no correlation to the light incidence image spacial respect is largely alleviated. |
