PURPOSE:To accord an optional position of an original with the position of a transfer sheet reaching a photosensitive drum by making an original platen freely movable in the direction of moving an original exposing device and fixable at an optional position of the original. CONSTITUTION:An original platen 2 is moved so as to enable copying by the length L of one page of a book as an original from the front end 7 of the original 22, and it is fixed by setting the end 7 to the positioning line of a positioning fixing lever 13. An exposing device 20 is moved with a driving device from said line 17 by said length L for one page to scan the original 22 in the direction of arrow C for exposure. Then, it is returned in the direction of arrow D to a prescribed stand-by position. The positioning and fixing is enabled by pushing down the end of the lever 13 at the depressed positioning part 18 of the surface of the platen 2.
