PURPOSE:To decrease thermal stress and thermal strain and to extend life by providing casting surfaces that contact with a molten metal, in the form of casting mold blocks, on plural peripheral side faces, and using the other casting surfaces after casting the molten metal by using the 1st casting surface. CONSTITUTION:A molten steel 11 is charged from a nozzle 13 into a casting mold space 21 while casting mold blocks 20 are moved. The molten steel is conveyed in an arrow direction in parallel with the movement of the blocks 20 and a billet 11a having the solidified outside surface is drawn from the open end 14 on the terminal side. The surface A and surface B of each block 20 are alternately changed over while the block moves around the loop and therefore the surface B is used after casting with the surface A and such procedure is alternately repeated. The surface of the blocks 20 contact consequently with the molten steel uniformly on the top and bottom, resulting in the uniformly distributed temp. and decreased thermal stress and strain. The wear at the part in contact with the molten steel is decreased and the life is extended. |
