PURPOSE:To shorten the on time of an illumination lamp as much as possible and to suppress a rise in the temperature of a peripheral member such as an original platen glass by making the lighting timing of the illumination lamp between a copy of the 1st sheet and copies of the 2nd and succeeding sheets when copying operation is carried out continuously. CONSTITUTION:When a single copy, not to mention plural copies, is taken continuously, the time of preliminary lighting and primary lighting for the 2nd and succeeding sheets are shorten than that of the 1st sheet. For this purpose, the on timing of the preliminary lighting and primary lighting for the 2nd and succeeding sheets is delayed behind that for the 1st sheet. A curve T1 in a figure shows characteristics up to the constant quantity Y of light when the illumination lamp is turned on, and the rising time is 730 msec. A curve T2 shows characteristics up to the constant quantity Y of light when the lamp is turned off temporarily after being turned on and then turned on again 600 msec later, and the rising time is 505 msec. Namely, the quantity of light never becomes insufficient even when the timing of lighting is delayed slightly when the lamp is turned on again. |
