PURPOSE:To enhance the recording density while keeping the other conditions as they are by performing specific combination and conversion in case of conversion from information of n-bit (n is >=5) to information of (n+1)-bit. CONSTITUTION:In case of conversion from information of n-bit (n is >=5) to information of (n+1)-bit conversion is so performed that the number of bits ''0'' between bits ''1'' in combinations of (n+1)-bit information is <=2, and prescribed combinations out of combinations of n-bit information are converted to combinations, where the first bit or the last bit is not 0 and only the first bit or the last bit is 0, out of combinations of (n+1)-bit information, and the other combinations out of combination of n-bit information are converted to combinations, where the first two bits or the last two bits are 0, out of combinations of (n+1)- bit information; and when combinations where two bits are 0 in one of the beginning and the end and combinations where only one bit is 0 in the other of the beginning and the end are continuous, the latter combinations are substituted with combinations where two bits are 0 in the other and the former combinations are substituted with combinations where the first bit or the last bit is not 0. |
