The invention relates to an electric heating cost allocator having a first temperature sensor, which measures a radiator (heater) temperature, and a second temperature sensor, which measures a lower temperature, in particular a temperature of the return (recirculating) air. The heating cost allocator forms the difference between the two measured temperature values and derives therefrom a display value which is proportional to the heat consumption. This heating cost allocator is additionally assigned an electronic control circuit which cooperates with the temperature sensor which measures the lower temperature, in particular return air temperature, in such a way that given a temperature value which occurs at this temperature sensor due to impermissible manipulation and exceeds a maximum permissible temperature, said temperature value disconnects the temperature sensor measuring the lower temperature from the electric heating cost allocator, and instead a simulating network which prescribes the value of the mean temperature at which the room is used is connected to said allocator.
