Briquette press, characterised in that the loading and preliminary pressing device 3 is in the form of a casing provided with two end openings 6 into which can slide the jaw-like blocks 4, and whose upper part is constituted by an opening 7 aligning itself under the opening of the feed hopper 1, and the briquette forming clamp is constituted by a pair of jacks disposed on either side of the loading and preliminary pressing device 3, perpendicular to the latter, of which one, the compacting jack 8, has a piston 10 penetrating into the casing and expelling the product contained between the hollows of the jaw-like blocks 4 into a precompression chamber 11 integral with the opposite side of the casing, and of which the other jack 9 is coaxial with the first one and is provided with a hollow piston 12 pressing against the precompression chamber 11 in the operating position, a fixed rod 13 for ejecting the briquette being fitted in the said jack 9 such that it is concentric with its piston 12. <IMAGE>
