PURPOSE:To provide a titled device which can move a welding torch along a groove to copy exactly the same by detecting respectively the contact between the respective contactors disposed on both right and left sides of the welding torch near an electrode and groove walls, detecting the proximity state of the electrode to the groove walls and copying the groove. CONSTITUTION:This welding device is provided with an X axis which advances a welding torch 1 in an arrow X direction along the groove 3 of base materials 2, a Y axis which moves the torch in right and left directions, and a Z axis which moves the torch in an upward diretion. The automatic welding by using an oscillation method with such welding device is accomplished by moving leftward the torch by the Y axis while advancing a carriage 4 by the X axis, reversing the direction and moving rightward the torch upon contact of a sensor probe 25 with the left groove wall 3a, reversing the direction again upon contact of a sensor probe 26 with the right groove wall 3b and repeating thereafter the above-mentioned operation. The need for correction in the detection of the groove walls is eliminated by the above-mentioned method and the welding torch is moved along the groove to copy exactly the same irrespectively of any change in the arc phenomenon and further the device is functioned even if no arc is generated. |
