PURPOSE:To obtain an amorphous alloy for a magnetic head with superior wear and corrosion resistances, high magnetic permeability and superior thermal stability by very rapidly cooling a molten Co alloy contg. specified elements by a rolling method. CONSTITUTION:An alloy having a composition represented by formula I (where M is Hf and/or Ta, a=0.04-0.07, b=0.005-0.10, x=8-16, and y=4-9.5, especially 4-6.5) is refined. The molten Co alloy having said composition is spouted into the gap between cooling rolls rotating at high speed under the pressure of an inert gas such as Ar, and it is very rapidly cooled to form an amorphous thin film. An amorphous alloy for a magnetic head with superior wear and corrosion resistances is obtd. |
