PURPOSE:To reduce the size and weight of a type change plate and a calculator and heighten reliability, by causing an assembly machine to change assembled elements and jigs in response to a signal from a type recognizing machine and assemble the elements. CONSTITUTION:When a number of units counted by the counter 12 of a foremost assembly station S-1 has become equal to an instructed number, a calculator 10 causes stoppage and transmits to a type change plate 7 a type to be assembled next. The stopper 9 of a type setting station 9 is then disengaged to bring elements to the upstream end of a row of bases for the type. A type recognizing machine 11 receives an optical signal from the type change plate 7 and sends information to microcomputers 14. If the assembled elements are different from previous ones, element boxes 16 are exchanged, which is confirmed by element recognizers 17. According to this constitution, the size and weight of the type change plate and the calculator are reduced and plural types of products can be automatically manufactured consistently. |
