PURPOSE:To improve washing efficiency and to facilitate an incineration treatment for cake by dehydrating under pressure sludge water to form cake with two sheets of endless filter cloths of a belt press type dehydrator then washing the filter cloths by the ejection of washing water contg. pulverous combustible particles. CONSTITUTION:A high polymer flocculating agent is added to sludge water 1 and is mixed therewith in a mixer 3 to flocculate the sludge. The sludge is filtered and dehydrated on the upper filter cloth 5 of a belt press type dehydrator 2 and thereafter the flocculated material is sandwiched by the upper filter cloth 5 and a lower filter cloth 6 and is pressed by both cloths 5, 6 to squeeze out the remaining water. The sludge is then discharged as cake 15. The removal of the sludge depositing on both cloths 5, 6 is accomplished by ejecting washing water contg. pulverous combustible particles of the sizes larger than the mesh of the filter cloths, such as pulverized coal, from nozzles 7, 7A, whereby the remaining sludge is removed. The pulverous combustible particles are left on the filter cloths so as to be incorporated in the cake in the stage of next filtering and to improve the incineration characteristic of the cake. |
