EDGER BETWEEN STANDS

PURPOSE:To cross roll a strip without buckling the same in the stage of cross rolling a strip by providing an edger consisting of a vertical rolling mill between rolling stands for the strip by adjusting the height and inclination of the vertical rolls of the vertical rolling mill by the movement of a looper. CONSTITUTION:A vertical rolling mill 5 for cross rolling of a strip 4 and a looper 7 are installed between rolling stands 3 and 3' for rolling the strip 4. The position and angle where and at which the strip 4 contacts with the vertical rolls 8 of the mill 5 change with the fluctuation in the position of a looper roll 6 of the looper 7 in the stage of passing the strip through the mill 5 while applying proper tension thereon by moving upward or downward the roll 6. A cylinder for adjusting upper and lower positions and a cylinder for tilting are therefore attached to the rolls 8, and are so adjusted that the strip 4 is prevented from deviating from the rolls 8 and that the axial line of the rolls 8 is at a right angle to the end face of the strip. The strip 4 is thus stably cross rolled without being buckled.
