PURPOSE:To prevent a clutch from spontaneously disengaging, by effecting forging to make a plurality of claw-making portions on a clutch material and by using jigs to swage-forge the claw-making portions to make their lateral sides convergent toward the body of the clutch material. CONSTITUTION:A material 1 for a clutch member is die-forged so that claw-making protrusions 3 of prescribed dimensions are provided on one side of the material. Outer jigs 16 are placed around the claw-making protrusions and secured by an outer ring 17. Inner jigs 18 are placed inside the claw-making portions 3 and secured by a core 19. The claw-making protrusions 3 are swaged by a forger 30 so that each protrusion is expanded in the circumferential direction, its inner and outer sides 5, 6 are made perpendicular to the material 1 by the contact surfaces 21 of the inner and outer jigs 18, 16, and both the lateral sides 7 of the protrusion 3 are made as clutch-engaging surfaces 12 convergent toward the material 1, by the slopes 20 of the outer jigs 16, as shown by a dotted line in the drawing. After that, the jigs 16, 18 are removed from the material 1. The peripheral part 2 of the material 1 is gear-cut by a conventional means. The material is heat-treated. This results in providing a transmission gear having clutch claws free from spontaneous clutch disengagement. |
