ARRANGEMENT FOR COMMUNICATION BETWEEN INTERACTIVE TELEPHONE SWITCHING PROCESSORS

A telephone switching system in which a call processor and port event processor interact to control call progression and switching. The call processor generates parameter signals that are stored in a port storage means and said call processor being effective to retrieve status signals from the storage means that indicate the status of the telephone system. A plurality of port group units are connected to the trunk and subscriber lines of a telephone network for monitoring and controlling signals on these lines and for receiving and transmitting intelligence signals and supervisory signals indicating the status of each telephone line. Signal transfer means are connected to both the storage means and the port group units and transfer supervisory signals between the port group units and the storage means. The port event processor includes a function processor responsive to the parameter signals for retrieving the status signals from the storage means. The port event processor further includes means for generating an event code in response to the operation of the function processing means. Furthermore, the port event processor also has an indicating means for transmitting to the call processor a signal confirming that the port event processor has completed its processing such that the call processor is enabled to step to a next call progression step in its sequence.
