PURPOSE:To enable operation of an internal combustion engine at the optimum fuel consumption rate, by a method wherein, during operation of the engine, a fuel injection time, i.e., an advance angle is made freely variable. CONSTITUTION:A resolver 35, mounted on a cam shaft 18, rotates together with the cam shaft 18 to detect the rotational angle of the cam shaft. The resolver 35 is connected to a control box 34 on which setters 46 and display units 48 are disposed, and an electric signal may be fed out to an electromagnetic valve 31. In response to an electric signal applied on the electromagnetic valve 31, a spool, incorporated in the electromagnetic valve 31, is moved, and an outlet part 58 is adapted to be selectively connected to a pressure port 59 or a drain port 60. Setting of a cam is previously advanced by the maximum value of a maximum advance angle alpha in the practical operation area of an internal combustion engine, and after a plunger starts to perform forcing feed only for a time equivalent to reduction in the advance angle alpha, the fuel oil discharged therefrom is returned to the suction side of an injection pump. |
