PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a mechanical scan and corrections of an angle and a distance by radiating a vertical beltlike beam radiation to a width wider than a body to be measured, and using a multichannel radiation detector and measuring a breadthwise distribution of thickness. CONSTITUTION:A radiation source 12 generates the beltlike beam radiation crossing the surface of the body to be measured to the width greater than the width of the beltlike body to be measured such as a steel plate. The multichannel radiation detector 14 is arranged facing the radiation source 12 with the body to be measured between to receive the radiation transmitted through the body to be measured from the radiation source 12. A radiation control part 15 controls the tube voltage and tube current of the radiation source 12 so that the intensity of the radiation from the source 12 is stabilized. Further, outputs of ionization chambers of respective channels of the multichannel radiation detector 14 are A/D-converted for every channel, by an A/D converter unit 16. The output of each A/D converter is converted by an arithmetic part 17 into thickness to output a signal which indicates a sectional profile pattern of the body to be measured. |
