PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic recording medium which is adapted to high density recording and has a high output and wear resistance by consisting magnetic powder of magnetic metallic powder having coercive force Hc and axial ratio Ra within a prescribed range and contg. at least an epoxy resin and an urethane resin as a binder. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic powder is magnetic metallic powder having coercive force Hc of 1,350<=Hc<=1,600 oersted and an axial ratio Ra of 1.3<=Ra<=4.5. If a binder combined with an epoxy resin and an urethane resin is used with the magnetic metallic powder which is decreased in Ra and is pulverized, the amt. of the magnetic powder with respect to the binder in the magnetic layer can be increased and therefore there is a remakable effect for high density recording, high output recording and an improvement in an S/N ratio. Fe, Ni, Co, Cr, Fe- Co-Ni, etc. are examplified for the magnetic metallic powder, and elements such as Mg, Mn, Si, P, Cu and Al and their compd. may be added thereto as an additive. The grain size of the magnetic powder is preferably <=0.3mu, in terms of high density recording and higher S/N. ''Araldite 6084'', etc. are available as the epoxy resin. ''Estan 5701'', etc. are usable as the urethane resin. |
