PURPOSE:To attain automatic variable power processing by discriminating the size of an original with reciprocating scanning of an optical scanning system, setting automatically the variable power in response to the size or original and recording chart, and performing copy processing at a set magnification at the return scanning. CONSTITUTION:Since the combination of output state of photo sensors PS3, 4, PS4 is changed in response to the size of recording paper at the forward scanning, the size is discriminated by reading the combination. Data of both image end positions in main and sub-scanning directions are obtained by reading a reflected light from the original formed on a CCD image sensor. When the scanning is finished, the output data of a latch LAY is stored in a register RAY2 (not shown). The variable power is calculated from the read original size and recording paper size data. The original size data is stored in registers RAX1, 2, RAY1, 2. Whether or not the preset magnification of variable power is coincident with the obtained magnificiation is checked, and when dissident, a stepping motor 29 is driven so as to make the difference coincident with each other. |
