A magazine (4) for planar information carriers, for example microfiches (6), has an adjustable-height cassette (5) in which the microfiches (6) are put one behind another in fixed positions. Furthermore, the magazine (4) has a transfer device (7) by means of which the microfiches (6) can be moved out of the cassette (5) as far as a second position. The magazine (4) is constructed as a separate structural unit which is to be attached in front of the film carrier (3) of a microfilm reader. It becomes possible as a result for the transfer device (7) to be used to change the microfiches (6) from the cassette (5) directly into the film carrier (3) of the microfilm reader, or conversely to transport them back from the film carrier (3) into the cassette (5). <IMAGE>
