A storage container for grain comprises a cylinder of bendable sheet material having an inwardly directed flange at its lower edge and the centre bottom part open, and a detachable lid of bendable sheet material. The cylinder is formed from four laminated tubes 17-20 each comprising two sheets of paper between which is a layer of tar or like emulsion in which strands of fibre glass are embedded. The tube 18 has its lower end turned inwardly to form the flange 22, the upper end of tube 18 being below those of tubes 17, 19, 20 which are folded over to form a flap 27. The lid is provided with a ring. of U-section which fits over the cylinder rim. In use the container is placed on the ground or a transportable platform and braced by struts 26 extending upwardly under flap 27, the struts 26 being removed when the container is filled to the level of flap 27. The outer surfaces of the container may be coated with a metallic paint, wax or plastics material. |
