The invention relates to a tool-change chuck for the interchangeable mounting of a change shank (23) which in turn carries a tool, e.g. a drill or a tap. The shank part (24) of the change shank (23), while being locked, can be inserted into a location bore (3) in a tubular part (2) of a spindle (1). A longitudinally displaceable sleeve (11) is slipped onto the tubular part (2), while a plurality of balls (10) are arranged in the tubular part (2), which balls (10) enter into the location bore (3) upon displacement of the sleeve (11) and are able to come out of the location bore (3) and, when they have entered into the location bore (3), interact with the change shank (23) while preventing the same from being pulled out. An ejector (17) constantly preloaded in the forward direction by a helical spring (19) is inserted into the bottom or inner part of the location bore (3). The ejector (17) displaces the change shank (23) in the forward direction during a change operation. An annular recess (21) is provided at the front end of the ejector (17) at its outer peripheral surface. The annular recess (21) merges into a bearing step (22) against which the balls (10) are able to bear with their radial inner parts in order to prevent the ejector (17) from sliding out unintentionally in the forward direction. <IMAGE>
