PURPOSE:To prevent generation of annular segregation and to decrease the rate of feeding by charging a steel ingot into a rotary casting mold, rotating the mold under a specific condition to make an ingot then rotating the mold at a decelerated speed until the molten metal soldifies thoroughly. CONSTITUTION:A casting mold is rotated according to the relationship: N= K/r<1/2>, 3min <=T<=TsX30% (N: the number of revolution, r: the radius of the steel ingot, T: the rotating time, K: a constant (200-3,000), TS: the time up to thorough solidification) after charging of a molten steel into a rotary casting mold in the stage of producing the clean steel ingot of an alloy steel contg. Ti and a rare earth element. The casting mold is rotated at a decelerated speed from the unsolidified state at the deceleration rate of rotation of 0.028cm/sec<2>, so that the molten steel is thoroughly solidified. The feeding capacity is effectively decreased by said ingot making method. |
