PURPOSE:To utilize effectively a memory area and to shorten a cycle time by executing a swapping operation of a bubble between loop-like transfer lines formed at an interval in the longitudinal direction. CONSTITUTION:When a bubble transferred through a bubble position 23 on a loop-like transfer line 10 comes to a position 24, a rotating magnetic field is directed to a direction 18. When a pulse is applied to a conductor pattern 12 in the direction 14 from this phase, a trough of a magnetic field distribution is induced in a pattern recessed part 16 and the bubble expands in the form of a stripe along the recessed part 16. When the pulse is applied continuously over an applied phase range 31, this bubble is held in the recessed part 16. When the pulse is cut off, the bubble is going to contract to a circular shape. In this case, since the rotating magnetic field is directed to a direction 19, a charged wall for attracting the bubble is formed at a position 25, and the stripe-like bubble contracts toward the position 25. Thereafter, this bubble is transferred on a loop-like transfer line 11 through a position 26 as the charged wall moves. |
