PURPOSE:To erase a magnetically unsaturated area to which a read/write gap is not directly touched without residue by positioning the end part of an erase gap on both sides of an arc-like read/write track due to a read/write gap at its width direction. CONSTITUTION:A read/write core 12 is joined with an erase core 13 through a separating layer 14, the read/write gap 9 and read/write track grooves 15 are formed on the read/write core 12 and erase gaps 10, 11 situated on both sides and an erase track groove 16 are formed on the erase core 13. A part to which the read/write gap 9 is touched is magnetically saturated status and an effective writing area A as shown by slashes. The inner end (a) of the erase gap 10 is brought near the inner periphery direction of a magnetic medium and is made coincide with the outer periphery of the area A. The outer end (b) of the erase gap 11 is brought near the inner periphery direction of the magnetic medium and is made coincide with the inner periphery of the area A. Even if leakage due to the magnetic field of fringing is generated as a magnetically unsaturated area B, the generated area B is erased without residue by the erase gaps 10, 11. |
