Fluorescent substance compsn. is prepd. from metal boric acid salt with a formula of (MII1-x, MII'x)O.B2O3:yCe, zTb:where, MII=Mg, Be Zn or Cd; MII'=Ca, Sr or Ba; 0<a<= ! 2.0;0<=x<=0.25; 0<y<=0.4; and 0.0001<=z<=0.3. The product emits blue or green lights under excitation of ultra-violet, electron beam, X-ray, or vacuum ultra-violet showing the following emission spectra. Emission intensity can be enhanced by adding solvents such as NH4Cl, NH4F, NH4HF2, NH4Br, NH4I, [(NH4)2CO3 , or NH4NO3.
