The building block in usual material, e.g. brick, sand-lime brick, concrete block, has one or more edges provided with a recess of which the width equals the full width (around 15 mm) or part of the width (e.g. half) of a normal pointing joint. The arrangement permits bonding the blocks with adhesive rather than mortar, and pointing the recesses to produce a normal appearance. Recesses of half joint width are preferably arranged along top and bottom edges and both side edges of the exposed faces of the blocks. The blocks may be similarly recessed at the rear. By using blocks with half joint width recesses, the adhesive join, which is only a few millimetres thick, is most reliably sealed by the pointing mortar subsequently applied. Used for brick or block for wall building without using bonding mortar. The blocks simplify a normally labour-intensive operation, reduce the brick laying skill required, speed up the work and reduce the cost whilst providing a wall at least equivalent in quality to that of a conventionally produced wall.
|
