<p>In the drive device, especially for washing machines, according to the main patent, two concentric belt pulleys of differing diameter are mounted freely rotatably on the hub designed for coupling to a drive source, whilst there rotate together with the hub centrifugal weights which are guided so as to be movable essentially radially, are spring-loaded towards the axis of rotation and carry the coupling elements for the large and the small belt pulley. When the centrifugal weights are in a radially outer position, the hub is coupled to the first (large) belt pulley by means of coupling elements arranged on the centrifugal weights, whilst, when the centrifugal weights are in a radially inner position, the other (smaller) belt pulley is connected fixedly in terms of rotation to the hub via those coupling elements of the centrifugal weights. A retaining device makes it possible to lock the centrifugal weights in the radially inner position. To simplify the design, the retaining device has a control member which rotates together with the release disc and can be transferred from an inactive position into an active position automatically as a result of the effect of centrifugal force and by means of which, during the transition from the inactive position into the active position, the control cams of the release disc are adjustable relative to the control elements with the effect of freeing the centrifugal weights.</p> |
