Self-steering axle device for half trailers with multiple axles, in which the self-steering axle comprises stub axles 1 mounted on connecting rods articulated on the axle body, characterised in that at least one axle of the vehicle is self-steering, in forward and reverse motion; by the fact that this axle body, being mounted on journal bearings 4, can turn through 180 DEG so that the articulated connector rods, bearers of the stub axles, are always orientated in the direction of motion, control being ensured by a rack 7 situated in the extension of the stem of a jack 6 moving over a gear 5 which is integral with the axle body, the rack being able to be replaced by a screw or a rotary motor actuating the gear. <IMAGE>
