Device for altering the intake cross-section and the change with time of the opening time of the intake port in a piston-controlled two-stroke internal combustion engine. The invention relates to a device for altering the intake cross-section and to the change with time of the intake, which is achieved by lowering or raising the bottom edge of the intake, in order to be able to better utilise the fuel drawn in and to reduce the excess of fuel with a constant time or a constant intake cross-section, which occurs in various speed ranges. This object is achieved by virtue of the fact that the bottom edge of the intake is raised or lowered by means of a pivotable plate via a linkage, the drive of which is a centrifugal clutch or a computer-controlled driving part (Fig. 1 A and travel X), and this has the result that the opening time of the intake is lengthened or shortened and the cross-section enlarged or reduced. By virtue of the invention, the fuel/air mixture drawn in is burnt by the engine without leaving unburnt fuel/air mixture to be expelled. The invention is mounted in the intake port by means of two bushes. A stuffing box seals off the cylinder casing where the removable shaft journal enters the casing with the reversing lever. <IMAGE>
