PURPOSE:To obtain an EC element which is connected easily in electric conduction to a counter electrode material, is quick in responsiveness, improves the dimension accuracy of a counter electrode, and scarcely causes variance of its characteristics, by using a metallic plate as a back substrate. CONSTITUTION:In an EC display element constituted by opposing a surface substrate provided with a display electrode 2 on which an EC substance layer is provided and a back substrate 5' provided with a counter electrode 4', placing a background plate 10' between them, sealing the circumference with a sealing material 6, and charging an electrolyte 7 into the inside, a metallic plate is used as the back substrate 5'. The counter electrode 4' and the background plate 10' can be formed by screen printing, and many pieces can be incorporated simultaneously although one piece each is incorporated in the past, therefore, the productivity is raised remarkably. Also, since the back substrate 5' is made of a metal, contact resistance with the counter electrode 4' becomes small, and the responsiveness becomes quick. |
