PURPOSE:The titled composition, prepared by covering a biologically active substance with a film of a protective material containing a substance selected from a higher monocarboxylic acid or hardened fat, chitosan and an inorganic salt, and digestible in the abomasum without the disintegration in the rumen. CONSTITUTION:A feed additive composition for ruminants prepared by covering a biologically active substance, e.g. an amino acid, vitamin, enzyme, anthelmintic agent, etc. with a film of a protective material containing (A) one or more substances selected from 14-22C stright chain or branched (un)saturated monocarboxylic acids and hardened vegetable and animal fats, (B) chitosan, (C) one or more inorganic salts selected from aluminum hydroxide, calcium phosphates, calcium sulfate and magnesium sulfate. The covering of the biologically active substance with the material containing the components (A), (B) and (C) provides the rapid disintegration of the protective material and effective absorption of the biologically active substance in the abomasum without the disintegration of the protective material in the rumen. |
