The simplest embodiment of the socket consists of three identical insulating elements (2) and two metallic retaining devices (3, 4) which are each arranged between two of the insulating elements (2). Each insulating element (2) has a hollow pin (7) on one broad side and a corresponding recess (8) on the opposite broad side. Furthermore, a knob-like projection (10), which is arranged eccentrically with respect to the hollow pin (7) and the recess (8), and a corresponding recess (11) are provided on each of the opposite broad sides of each insulating element (2). In this case, the knob-like projection (10) and the corresponding recess (11) in one broad side are arranged offset through 180 DEG with respect to the knob-like projection (10) and the corresponding recess (11) on the other broad side. Each retaining device (3, 4) has perforations for the passage of the hollow pin (7) of an adjacent insulating element (2) and for the passage of the knob-like projections (10) of the two adjacent insulating elements (2). The hollow pin (7) and the knob-like projection (10) of one insulating element (2) and the knob-like projection (10) of a second insulating element (2) engage through the perforations in the retaining device (3, 4) which is arranged between the said insulating elements, and into the recesses (8, 11) in the respectively other insulating element (2). Those end parts of the retaining devices (3, 4) which project beyond the insulating elements (2) are used on the one hand as receptacles for holding a button-shaped over voltage suppressor and on the other hand as connecting tabs (3a, 4a). <IMAGE>
