Yarn break detector for operating yarn brakes, guides and monitors. Device particularly for use on automatic winding machines, on which a broken end is taken up into a knotter, has a pivotable yarn feeler supported against a working piston in a housing. In its basic position the piston closes a duct to an attached pressure receiver of a working medium. In the housing is a further displaceable piston co-operating with the working position which changes the working position. The 2nd. piston has a piston rod which carried a contact element to co-operate with the yarn feeler.
