PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity of successive processing and reduce the number of steps of a CPU, by installing cell managing information which indicates whether a cell is used or not and, when a cell acquisition request or cell release request is made, changing the cell managing information. CONSTITUTION:An empty cell pool controlling block FLC points a cell pool header LBPH which manages empty cell pools and, when empty cell pools LBP are exhausted, implements a new cell pool LBP and, at the same time, a cell pool header LBPH which manages the new empty cell pool LBP. An entry E1 of the cell pool header LBPH points next cell pool header LBPH and another entry E2 points a corresponding cell pool LBP. One cell pool LBP consists of sixteen cells CLL and a cell use table CMT has sixteen pieces of cell managing information areas F corresponding to each cell CLL. The cell managing information is stored in each cell managing information area. |
